The mantra states “Nilanjanasamabhasamraviputramyamagrajamchayamartandasambhutam tam namamishaishcharam”. The meaning of the mantra is that you bow to the great Lord Shani who is the son of the Sun God and Chaya and the brother of Yama, who is black in color and a very slow mover.
